About the project :

Lok Samvad Sansthan is looking for “PATRONS” to help  

Indigenous people of Rajasthan - A Fight to Sustain Livelihoods to survive  Pandemic COVID 19‎

The impact of COVID-19 in almost all sectors including the cultural sector is being felt. Cultural events canceled, cultural institutions closed, community cultural practices suspended artists unable to make ends meet, and the cultural tourism sector greatly affected. Our heritage of oral traditions, performing arts, local knowledge, and traditional skills are in a critical situation.

Lok Samvad sansthan (LSS)-a nonprofit organization decided to use social media platforms to share derailed the livelihoods of families from marginalized and underserved communities with their pain, proper physical emotional well being, positivity and humane support toward each other to global communities and to keep them connected. We decided to work with them to develop, sustain and professionalize their traditional cultural skills.

These communities need our help for preservation, promotion and survival, need better livelihood prospects not merely to sustain but to grow and succeed and reinforce our rich cultural inheritance.

Our objectives are::

  • Support and empower traditional (folk and tribal) artists through methodical and sustained development efforts and promote, protect and preserve the integrity and diversity of individual culture.
  • Need for mobilization support to perform and entertain and also act as an historian- a maintainer and teacher of traditions of culture. For these performance events, concerts, exhibition, workshops/seminars and other social convention will be organized. This will enable people to develop an understanding of culture and generate an appreciation and respect for the folk form of arts.
  • The current generations of Rajasthan folk musicians are facing greatest challenge in adoption to fast evolving digital technology and media to leverage their traditional skills-not just to survive but to flourish. We would support these artists to market and promote themselves and their work through digital tools.“ We don’t even know how to use a phone. How we can survive? Well known Langa Singer Neck Mohammed remarked.

Presently our organization, Lok Samvad Sansthan ( Jaipur based media advocacy organization) and Rupayan Sansthan- both established by PADAM BHUSHAN  late Komal Kothari- are engaged in the field of. Folklore especially in performing arts of Rajasthan for more than six decades in Rajasthan), had collaborated with

Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication, Dwarka (Delhi) -as social media campaign partner  UPES University through Journalism Department, Dehradun as an academic partner

 And jointly came forward to address the needs and concern of these traditional folk artists of desert districts of western Rajasthan through a unique and innovative digital social media campaign Maru Mani”. (Jewels of India).

In a initiative to support the indigenous people of Rajasthan through organizing campaign for safe Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) on  the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples,the following organization are supporting/collaborating:

1..UNESCO,New Delhi Office, Cluster office for Bangladesh,Bhutan,India, Maldives, Nepal and Srilanka.

2. International Centre for Inclusive Cultural Leadership, Anant National University, Ahmedabad, India

3.. International Institute for the Inclusive Museum, Australia/India/USA

4. UNITWIN-UNESCO Network – Tourism, Culture and Development, Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne

Our venture by raising many small amounts of donations from large number of people through social media platform.

Our Commitment :

All funds collected will be carefully used through Project mode for the awareness promotion, preservation, event organizations and empowering through digital tools.
